Trend 4: To the Minimalist Movement, one of the hottest documentaries on Netflix.

Spock “After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but is often true.” – Star Trek, season 2, episode 1 (“Amok Time,” 1968)

Trend 5: Social media becomes more critical than ever in 2017. See Hubspot Trends

Spock: “Without followers, evil cannot spread.” – Star Trek, season 3, episode 5, (“And the Children Shall Lead,” 1968)

Trend 6. Everything is possible…it is the truth!

Trend 8: Global Consciousness is on the rise and many companies, universities and people are willingly stepping up and in to solve these challenges. MIT’s Solve at the United Nations is a live pitch event, where selected innovators pitch their solutions to Solve’s challenges on Refugee Education, Carbon Contributions, and Chronic Diseases to a panel of expert judges and a live audience. Those selected by our judges will become Solvers. As Solvers, they will receive support and join Solve community members at Solve at MIT on May 8-10, 2017.

Spock: “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” – Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, 1982

Bonus Trend: The 50+ are being sought after! The pattern is clear: The older the cohort, the greater the growth. According to U.S. News and World Report, 70 percent of human resource experts believe older workers have a strong work ethic. Based on the number of adults over the age of 50 who are part of the workforce, this assessment seems accurate. For older Americans seeking employment, the need many companies have for their skills and experience makes finding a job easier.

Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy: “If you’re gonna ride in the Kentucky Derby, you don’t leave your prize stallion in the stable.”

Spock: “A curious metaphor, doctor, as a stallion must first be broken before it can reach its potential.”
